Alpine gem hut – our multifaceted jewel
A little below our sun terrace lies our alpine gem hut. Originally a small chapel, we can also convert it to a dormitory that sleeps 15 people. The first sight you see in the morning through the large windows is an unforgettable view of the imposing mountains surrounding the location. You will never forget your stay here.

How do I get to the restaurant?
Our restaurant can only be reached by gondola.
You can find the gondola times at www.jungfrau.ch.
Our opening hours are linked to the ride times.
Our hot kitchen closes 1 hour earlier.
Is there wifi?
Wifi is offered throughout the house by Jungfrau Railways. Except in the Gemshütte.
Are dogs allowed in the restaurant?
Dogs are very welcome.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Arrival is possible from 2 p.m., departure by 10:00 a.m. at the latest.
How do I get to the hotel?
The Berggasthaus can only be reached by cable car, transportation is not included in the room price. You can find the times of the cable car at www.jungfrau.ch. You can enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery on the approx. 20-minute gondola ride. If you are arriving by car, it is best to park at the Pfingstegg long-term parking lot. This is about a 7-minute walk from the Firstbahn. Those arriving by train take a 15-minute walk from the train station through the beautiful glacier village of Grindelwald to the Firstbahn (Dorfstrasse 187).
Does the hotel have Wi-Fi?
Wifi is offered throughout the hotel by Jungfrau Railways. Except in the Gemshütte.
What is included in the room price?
Comforter, pillow and towel are provided free of charge, so sleeping bags are not necessary. Unfortunately, we do not offer hut shoes
The visitor’s tax and tourist tax are also included.
On arrival you will receive the Grindelwald guest card on request, which entitles you to discounts with many providers.
Can I store my luggage temporarily after checking out?
We will certainly find a way to store your luggage temporarily, just ask.
Is it possible to cook for myself?
No, we do not have any facilities for our guests to cook for themselves.
When are the meal times?
Breakfast is always served from 07:30 to 10:00.
We are happy to serve dinner from 18:30 to 21:00 in summer
and from 18:00 to 21:00 in winter.
What are the shower facilities like?

Is it possible to book by telephone?
We recommend booking via email or our homepage to avoid any misunderstandings.
Are dogs allowed in the hotel?
Dogs are welcome in the hotel room, but unfortunately not in the dormitory.
A small surcharge of CHF 10.00 is payable.
Terms and conditions
Subject matter of the contract
These General Terms and Conditions govern the legal relationship between you and Berggasthaus First GmbH. They are based on the reservation confirmation which will be sent to you by e-mail.
Options
Option dates are binding for both parties. Berggasthaus First GmbH can automatically dispose of the reserved rooms after the option period has expired, provided the customer has not confirmed.
Cancellations of hotel reservations
We kindly ask you to inform us in writing of any significant changes to your reservation as early as possible. You can cancel your reservation free of charge up to 3 days before arrival. In the event of bad weather, we offer to postpone your stay with us free of charge up to 3 days before arrival.
Liability/duty of care
The hotel room and the public areas are to be used by the guest with the utmost care. The guest is liable for any damage to property. The hotel declines all liability for theft, etc. and in relation to third-party services.
Lost property
Lost property will only be forwarded at the guest’s request. Berggasthaus First GmbH accepts no liability in the event of the loss of personal belongings and valuables. This applies to the time during your stay as well as in the case of returns. The guest bears the costs and the risk of subsequent shipment.
Applicable law, place of jurisdiction
The legal relationship between you and Berggasthaus First GmbH is governed by Swiss law. The place of jurisdiction is Thun.
